Weekend Shenanigans

First and foremost- I am realizing that if I am going to really do this blogging endeavor I have to take more pictures.  This may be a pictureless post - therefore less entertaining and I'll keep it short.

On Friday after a long day at work Ryan and I went to Spasso for dinner.  The walleye dinner I had was fabulous and Ryan had a delicious mahi-mahi.  Unfortunately the air conditioning was not working in the place so we sweat through dinner and didn't have any wine- just MANY glasses of water.  After dinner I picked up one of my best friends, Allison Rainwater from the airport.  Allison was in town this weekend from Arizona for her sister's wedding.  Allison just had a baby 3 weeks ago so I give her major props for making the trip and the few pictures I've seen so far from the wedding- she looked absolutely stunning!  Not that I'm surprised at all but what a trip for a newbie mom!  Anyways- the 30 minute drive from the airport to her parent's house was so nice to catch up on her new life and see a few pics of her new son Austin!

Allison and I the last time she was in town- before she was a MOM!

Saturday was busy getting ready for a couples shower that my mom and I hosted on Sunday... will tell you more in a minute!  And then Ryan and I joined some family and friends to celebrate our dear friend Deb's birthday with a backyard BBQ.  Deb, our friend and co-worker passed away this last March after a long battle with cancer.  It was so fun to see her family and share stories about our sweet friend!  We so miss her and wish she was still here!  But we enjoyed the delicious food, good wine, and fun memories.

And then on Sunday, my mom and I hosted a couples shower for my dear friend Kathryn and her fiance Mike.  Kathryn and I have been friends since we were about 9 years old from diving.  We celebrated their upcoming wedding with all of our diving families and enjoyed a taco and fajita bar along with marble and fudge cake!  Yummy!  It was so fun to catch up with all these old friends.  It's incredibly special to me that this group of friends has stayed together for nearly 15 years now- yikes that seems like a long time!  We all went to different high schools and colleges, have ended up in completely different states for most of the recent years, and pursued completely different fields of study/occupation.  And yet we can come together and truly enjoy an afternoon.  These are wonderful friends.. the kind that you catch up right where you left off!
One of my favorite pictures of Kathryn and I...
from the summer (2009) I went to visit her in LA!

I will share two fun pictures from the shower- the most adorable cake and the fun pinterest project I did for the Nearlyweds!
A cake just for divers :)

The important dates of their lives

Have a great Monday everyone!
And we'll catch up a little later this week I'm sure!
