21 Weeks

Pumpkin this week...
~ Baby's digestive system is prepping for life outside my tummy, he is creating meconium.

Size of the Baby?
10.5 inches long and 12.7 ounces

Total Weight Gain/Loss?
Up 2 more pounds.  Must have been that Carolina BBQ :)

Maternity Clothes?
Sported my maternity swimsuit this last weekend... I definitely still have room to grow in it so I think by this summer it will be cuter on me than it was now.
Stretch Marks?
Nope!

Best Moments?
On Monday night when I came home from North Carolina, it was so nice to relax with Ryan.  Right before we went to sleep, I was laying in bed and all of a sudden I got a kick like nothing else I've ever felt.  I practically screamed- Whoa!  Ryan was able to feel a bunch of kicks too and then we just watched my tummy bounce all over!  So awesome and such a cool feeling.  It almost made me a little nauseous but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love this!

Also- Ryan surprised me with my 'push gift' right before I left for North Carolina.  He gave me the other band to match my wedding band.  So now my engagement ring has my wedding band and the push band on each side of it.  I LOVE it!!  I'm thinking I would like to get each ring engraved so I can remember which one is my wedding band and which one is for Baby Hannay!

Movement?
Yes and I love it!  What a crazy feeling!

Nausea/Vomitting?
Knock on wood- I actually can't remember the last day I puked.  :)

Labor Signs?
Nope and I'd be happy if we made it to October 1st before that happens.

Gender?
Baby BOY!!

Belly Button In or Out?
Still an innie!

Wedding Rings On or Off?
On and not tighter at all!

Sleep?
I've been making less potty breaks and sometimes I make it all night without a pit stop!  I love getting more sleep!!

Wisdom?
Don't overdo yourself or over commit!  I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with everything on my plate this summer.  We have a few weddings, birthday weekends, cabin trips, and I'm helping with USA Diving Nationals all on top of normal work and coaching.  I'm glad to be only coaching two nights a week but I'm really anxious about everything else on my plate.  I have to remember that Baby Hannay is my focus and the most important thing and if I have to say no to something- it's okay.  It's important to do what's best for baby.

What am I most excited about?
A weekend with Ryan- our mini baby-moon... more details to come next week on the blog!

Loving each kick,

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

I had the best Memorial Day weekend!  Back in February, my friend Tracy and I talked about doing a girls weekend and when flights were super cheap to North Carolina we booked!  Tracy's parents have a gorgeous home in Raleigh so we spent our Memorial Day weekend in the sunshine and warmth.  Jealous?!
We flew in on Friday and spent the evening at her house, grilling and watching a movie.  A perfectly relaxing start to the weekend!  Saturday we took a great walk in a regional park and then hit up Chik-Fil-A!  Yummy!  I would love for one of these to be in MN!!  Post lunch, we sat poolside all day-- relaxing, reading, tanning, swimming.  It was AWESOME!  That evening we went out for dinner and sort of called it an early evening around 10:30.
Preggers in the pool and my reading material for the weekend!
Sunday morning we headed to UNC-Chapel Hill to walk around the campus and then made our way back home to grill and sit poolside again.  It was glorious!  Saturday night we went to 'The Pit' for dinner and we ate Carolina style BBQ- DELICIOUS!!
UNC- Chapel Hill
Lounging on Sunday

The Pit on Sunday night
I caught a morning flight home on Monday morning and enjoyed my Memorial Day with Ryan and Dupree- napping, running to the gym, making dinner, and starting the new season of Bachelorette!

Hope you had a good weekend too,

20 Weeks

How the heck are we at 20 weeks??!  Oh my word!
Oh! We're halfway there!! (Sing this in your best Bon Jovi voice)

Pumpkin this week...
~ Baby has working taste buds... and lately he is loving fruit!
~ Gulping down several ounces of amniotic fluid each day... wonder if it sounds like Dupree chomping away at his food bowl?!  :)

Size of the Baby?
6.5 inches long and 10.6 ounces
Total Weight Gain/Loss?
+1 lb. this week.  Currently up 13 lbs total.  Each week this little spot in the blog keeps me accountable and keeps me focused.  And although what woman likes to share her weight gain, I have found it to be helpful.

Maternity Clothes?
I love Pink Blush Maternity.  Those items I ordered, I LOVED!

Stretch Marks?
Not one!

Best Moments?
It was a sweet and tender moment to have Ryan feel a little flutter this week.

Movement?
A little more frequent.  No major kicks yet but I can't wait!

Nausea/Vomitting?
I don't want to say this too loud-- but I think I'm nearing the end!

Labor Signs?
Still have a while until that happens!

Gender?
Team blue!

Belly Button In or Out?
In however it is getting shallower.

Wedding Rings On or Off?
Totally on and not the least bit tight!

Sleep?
I feel like I've been sleeping longer which has been nice.  But work has been insane lately so I also know I'm just exhausted when I get into bed!

Wisdom?
Keep on working out.  I went to the gym last weekend to do some weight and it felt so good to get that in again.  I've been doing a lot of walking since I got pregnant but doing light weights was so refreshing.  And squats!  My booty hasn't felt this painfully good in a few months!  Loved it!

What am I most excited about?
A relaxing Memorial Day weekend with some of my favorite girls!!

Dupree can't be left out of the blog today either... an excited big brother!
In disbelief that we are halfway thru this pregnancy,

Baby Talk: A Gift Most Treasured

If you read my blog with any frequency, you will know how much I adore my grandparents.
I have been really close with my grandparents and I love that they live so much closer now so they can enjoy  our sweet baby boy when he arrives.  Where my grandparents live there is a daycare facility on site.  My grandma spends a few hours each week rocking the infant babies.  It is her favorite part of her week!  She originally started by reading to the preschool kids and I know she loves that too but Grandma goes crazy for babies!  So when she gets to go feed the little ones and rock them to sleep she is in heaven.

When Ryan and I announced we were having a baby she quickly said it was the best news she has heard in ten years!  I think it gave my grandparents something to look forward to.  Grandma says she will have the most practice of anyone to rock baby Hannay :)  And when Grandma voted for a boy last weekend she was thrilled that she "won" and guess correctly!  She just had a feeling we were having a boy-- and Grandma was right!

So on Mother's Day I felt overwhelmed with love- hence the tears I cried a few times throughout the day.  But what may have been the most emotional moment was opening the gift I received from Grandma (and Grandpa).  Grandma hand knit little booties for Baby Hannay!
My grandma has really bad arthritis so any tedious hand work is really hard for her.  I knew this as soon as I opened the booties- I knew how hard she worked to make these.  Grandma also said that she hadn't knit booties in about 30 years and since they moved she has misplaced her needles, yarn, and directions on how to do this.  So Grandpa took Grandma to get new needles and yarn and Grandma said she just started knitting- hoping she would remember how to make booties.  And she did!  They are so cute!  I will absolutely treasure these booties for years to come and I can't wait for Baby Hannay to wear them.

Do you have any gifts for your baby that you will treasure for a lifetime?
Overwhelmed by love,
Linking up with Kristin today!

19 Weeks

Here is a sneak peak of the nursery!!  Walls are done!!

Pumpkin this week...
~ Baby is developing a protective coating over the skin, called vernix caseosa.
~ Working on the five senses... nerve cells for the senses are developing in the brain.

Size of the Baby?
6 inches long and 8.5 ounces.... however last week at 18 weeks and 2 days Baby Hannay weighed in at 9 ounces.  Ryan was proud of his little growing pumpkin!
Total Weight Gain/Loss?
+1 lb. this week.  Currently up 11 lbs total.  Slow and steady wins the race right?!

Maternity Clothes?
I made a few purchases from Pink Blush Maternity and I can't wait to wear them.  The tank top in my 19 week picture is one of the new ones.  I just had to wear it on our 90 degree Tuesday!

Stretch Marks?
None.  But can I say that my tummy itches so much!!  Must be all the stretching happening.

Best Moments?
Our Mother's Day and gender reveal!!  If you didn't see the celebration you can get caught up here. It was so fun to share the news that we will have a son in October!  Also I have to say my husband was beyond amazing for my first Mother's Day.  Manicures and pedicures for the rest of my pregnancy and a thoughtful and sentimental mom-to-be figurine too.  I loved it!

AND seeing our little man at the 18 week ultrasound.  Baby is doing great!  We feel really blessed and continue to pray that our pumpkin grows and develops strong and healthy.
Movement?
Still not a ton.  Every once in a while I feel something but nothing frequent yet.

Nausea/Vomitting?
Knock on wood- I think it's getting better- knock on wood!

Labor Signs?
Hopefully we have at least 20 more weeks until that starts!

Gender?
So happy to be having a baby BOY!
Belly Button In or Out?
In!

Wedding Rings On or Off?
On and not even a little tight

Sleep?
Getting better... I either wake up at 12:30 for a potty break otherwise I can make it to 4:30 and I LOVE those nights!

Wisdom?
Talk to your doctor about any concerns.  Ryan and I watched a documentary about hospitals/OBGYNs vs. midwives and at home births.  Although I am convinced and set on delivering in a hospital with my doctor, it did bring up some really good points and things to think about.  I was able to ask about how quickly my doctor expects labor to progress and how naturally she will let me attempt to labor.  So my advice is to make sure you and your doctor are on the same page and make sure that whatever birth plan you have is the right one for you.  Ryan and I are figuring ours out now... crazy!

What am I most excited about?
Unrelated to baby but this warm weather we are finally having!  It's wonderful!  Maxi skirts, tank tops, and sandals... I'm a happy mama-to-be!

Our Mother's Day... and the Gender Reveal

What a beautiful day we had to celebrate Mother's Day!  I felt blessed to start the day by walking Dupree into town and getting a mango iced tea at Caribou.  It was so quiet and no one was on the trail except me, Dupree, the birds and the squirrels.  It was wonderful!  As soon as I got home, I jumped into the hustle of getting the last few things ready for the Mother's Day party we hosted.  Ryan finished the last few touch ups on the nursery and got the garage cleaned out.  We made sloppy joes and wrapped gifts.  We were ready for our company to come over around noon..
My whole family and most of Ryan's family joined us for lunch.  After a tasty lunch full of sloppy joes, potato salad, beans, pasta salad, jello salad, pear salad, and fruit salad... enough salads right?!... we opened gifts.  It looked like Christmas around here.  I felt really, really blessed to be showered with lots of love.  Lots of cards of encouraging words and beautiful first time mama gifts.  Ryan gave me what can only be described as  a pregnant woman's dream- manicure/pedicure gift certificate for the rest of my pregnancy!  And then this beautiful figurine.
I have a few of these throughout the house and I absolutely love this one.  So thoughtful and I will treasure this as my first Mother's Day gift from Ryan and baby Hannay.  Are you dying yet to know if Baby Hannay is a boy or a girl?!!

Okay!  Okay!  So I did a mini gender reveal and had our family vote on if they thought Baby Hannay would be a boy or a girl.  My friend Kristin helped me get voting ballots, stickers, and signs to complete the party!

So after gifts were opened, we had Ryan's mom and my mom cut into a secret cake!
.
And they yelled... "It's blue!"
Yes!  We're having a BOY!
Ryan and I are over the moon thrilled to be having a baby boy!  It feels surreal to say that I will have a son in a few months!  We do have a name picked out but I'm going to hold onto that until baby's birthday!

A few more pictures of the day...
The Nelson's all voted GIRL!
Grandma Robyn and Nona Pescada... baby boy will be spoiled like crazy by these two!
Grandpa and Grandma... both voted BOY!

Laura knew it... hope my sister is ready to nanny her nephew!
Dick and Judy were on the right track...
Grandma was pretty happy!  She said "I win!"
Of course my brother had to do his own vote... this way he wouldn't be wrong... so typical :)
And Stephanie and her dad were both team GIRL... maybe next time...
All the grandpas... our baby boy is really lucky to have these three!
Jaxon is really excited to finally have another boy in the family!  Yay a boy cousin!
"We're Hannays!  We only make boys!"
And when it was all said and done and the last of the guests left, Rose tuckered out on the couch.  A lot of excitement to celebrate.  What a beautiful day celebrating all the moms, moms to be, god moms, aunts, mother in laws, sisters, and women who are the glue in our family!  I can't wait for our son to join in family celebrations later this year!  He's gonna love it!

Out-numbered by one husband, one fur man puppy, and a baby BOY on the way... and THRILLED!
