Weeks 7-12

I definitely didn't think I would be doing bump updates so soon again but here we are people!  I always knew I wanted to do something fun for baby #2 like I did for Colin but it had to be different- no chalkboard.  And to be honest, I came to dread the chalkboard.  So that being said and now that I have a busy 8 month old, I will be doing updates via photoshop (insert big smile!).

Right now Colin is hiding my bump.  You know the one where people wonder-- has she gained weight?  is she drinking a lot of beer?  is she pregnant?  It's a questionable look right now.  So until the bump doesn't give me the 'fat' look, you will just have to enjoy Colin's adorable face-- I know rough right?!
Soon the bump will pop- the doctor assured me on Monday (oh thank you!) and then Colin will be an ornament on my hip each week for bump updates!  And in case it isn't clear, each week's picture has the fruit that correlates with baby's size.  This week baby is the size of a plum.
And just because I think it is fun to go back and remember what 12 weeks looked like with Colin's bump updates...
See you next Thursday for week 13!

Getting the biggest surprise of our life

Thank you for all the love and support we received from our announcement yesterday!  It feels good to let the cat out of the bag and share the news!

To say we were shocked is an understatement!  But I think it all makes sense... I was a surprise.  Ryan was a surprise.  And it only makes sense that we have a little surprise of our own.

If you don't want too many details, then don't keep reading but don't say I didn't warn you.
I stopped pumping when Colin turned 6 months old.  Less than 2 weeks later, I got a period.  I was back to normal and felt like myself for the first time in over a year!  I felt great!  I anticipated that my body was back to normal and when I missed my period by 5 days we thought it might be smart to take a test.  It came back negative and we figured that was normal.  Getting back to a normal cycle can take a while after having a baby so we went about life after the negative test.

We went on as normal for three more weeks!  I enjoyed some delicious glasses of wine, yummy turkey sandwiches, and slept on my back in total comfort.  THEN... on Saturday May 17th, I popped a good bottle of wine for dinner.  I took a sip and told Ryan how delicious it was.  He prepped the grill for a steak dinner.  I took Colin upstairs to change his diaper and out of no where I decided that I should probably take another pregnancy test.  I really hadn't thought about this at all.  We hadn't even talked about it.  But I say it was Mother's intuition and I took a test.  It INSTANTLY read PREGNANT and had a nice +3 on it too.  +3 indicates you are +3 weeks along so really I was 7+ weeks along.  OH MY WORD.  I could hardly process this.

I went downstairs and told Ryan I could not drink the wine.  He asked why as I had just told him how delicious it is was.  I said "I'm pregnant."  Ryan immediately thought I was lying and told me that was a bad joke.  I ran to show him the test and he was in disbelief.  He had me take another test which again instantly read pregnant.  We ate our dinner basically with our jaws on the ground- totally shocked.

I cannot believe we will have two little ones 15 months apart but it will be amazing!  God planned it this way and His plans are perfect!  We will be incredibly busy.  Ryan and I may never sleep again but life will be full and wonderful.

I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with those that want to read my blog.  Stay tuned for weekly bumpdates and our crazy lives as we get ready to become a family of 4 + Dupree!

Eight Months

Can we say cheesin?!
Baby Stats:
Weight: More than 20lbs.  (not exactly sure!?!)
Sleep: Colin is a rockstar sleeper-- for the most part!  He goes down about 8pm, sleeps until 5am, bottle and back down until 6:30-7.  Then he has a nap at 9/9:30 until 10:30/11.  And then another nap about 2:30/3 until 4ish.  It is lovely!
Feeding: Someone has decided that pureed foods are boring and he would rather eat solid foods.  So he is eating solid foods.  I am a little nervous about big pieces so I do cut everything up small but he seems to be loving it.  This weekend he enjoyed peas, carrots, and green beans!  And what's funny is the pureed version of these was a no go lately!
Diapers: size 3
Clothing: 9 month clothes.
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Milestones: More teeth!  Colin has 7 teeth and is working on #8.  And he is working on crawling.  By 9 months we may be walking!  He would rather walk with assistance than crawl.  Colin also had his first boat ride and liked being in the fresh air!  He has said Mama and Dada a few times but nothing consistent.
Nicknames: Goomba
Favorites: Swings at the park, Johny Jump Up, being outside, bath time (sitting up in the bath like a big kid!)

My Sweet Baby Colin,
You are a complete joy!  You smile from the time you wake up until the moment you go to bed.  You have spoiled us as parents!  It is finally summer here and you are loving being outside, spending time at the park or on the deck.  You have discovered Dupree to be really fun since he licks you all over!  You so badly want to go, run, and be on the move.  I'm excited for this next phase but it will be a big transition out of babyhood into a little boy!  Yikes!  I love you with all my heart!!  I can't wait to see you grow this summer, learn new things, and continue discovering the world around you!
With my whole heart,
Mama

Better in Pictures

As I said before, life has been busy and full.  Teething, getting on a good nap schedule, nanny changes, and Ryan working crazy hours... life has been busy.  Blogging is falling to the wayside.  My apologies for this.  So let's update you with pictures shall we...
Lots of time spent on the new deck.  We love it out here and Colin LOVES being outside!

Lots of time in the Johny Jump Up and Colin LOVES hats!
Time Out at Grandpa and Grandma's Farm
Ryan and I enjoyed game 4 of the Wild vs. Blackhawk series!  It was an awesome game and the Wild won!
Colin wants to crawl so bad.  Come on little buddy!  You can do it!
Yep- this one slipped in there!  And it was delicious!  DQ Blizzard in a waffle cone.  Perfection.
Fun with Friends!

Stroller Walks to see the Turtles
New Solid Food which Colin LOVES and attempting to feed himself!

New Napping Schedule which is (dare I say it) going so well!
And yes his little bunny tail is up in the air!
And Colin loves the swing and park!

I'll keep taking pictures, think about my blog, and enjoy my baby and loving this full, busy life.
