Spencer: Nine Months

Hello Busy Boy!  Oh my word you are on the move and your adorable little face that looks back at me after crawling to your destination, as if to say "did you see me mom?"  makes me fall in love more with your every day.  You are crawling, climbing, and pulling yourself up on everything.  You tumble too but you are incredibly tough and you rarely cry when you bonk your head or fall to your butt.  You LOVE exploring your world and you are still the happiest baby ever!  You are sitting up so much better now, ever since you started school.  You LOVE reading books, watching what is going on around you, and holding toys in your hands.  If I don't watch you every second, you could be in another room in 10 seconds.
You are doing great at Creative Kids Academy.  Of course all the teachers love you and you've adjusted so well.  And the smile you give me when I pick you up is the best!
You have 7 teeth, weigh 22 lbs., and are 30 inches long.  Simply put: you are perfect!
It's been so fun this month to play outside, enjoy the fresh fall air and watch you figure out things.  You love watching Colin and try to do whatever he does.  You two love playing on the tractor and firetruck in the house.  I usually help push you around and you laugh and laugh.  You love keeping up with your brother.  Colin LOVES making you laugh in the car.  You two talk, laugh, squeal, and scream together-- I can only imagine what the coming years will be like.
You're still sleeping great at night and you are down to one nap a day-- usually about 1.5 hours.  And you love to eat.  You'll eat just about anything but you'd honestly prefer fruits and veggies.  You're still adjusting to dairy and carbs.  As you continue to move more and more, you are leaning out and losing your pudge.  But still, you fit best into 18 month clothes.  You are practically sharing clothes with Colin.
Daily, I thank God for the surprise you were in our lives.  God knows just what he is doing all the time and bringing you into our family was part of his perfect plan.  You are the biggest blessing.  You're happy, healthy, and such a ray of sunshine-- corny yes but it is the truth.  I love you more than my heart can contain, it bursts every day when I snuggle you, kiss you, and hold your squirmy little body!

Spencer: Eight Months

This last month flew by in the blink of an eye.  Wasn't I just writing about your seven month birthday?  Well once again you're growing up quickly and I want to freeze time.  I find myself taking in the small moments with you-- watching you sleep longer, letting you get food on your clothes but completely enjoy trying the new flavors and feeding yourself, talking with you in the car like we are having a deep conversation, and just watching in awe as you play and move.  You are crawling now and you move fast.  Your army crawl technique is working out well for you.  I turn around and you have moved all the way across the house in a matter of a minute.  You LOVE being able to get to Colin and play together.
I think that is what has made this past month the best.  You two are becoming the best of friends.  Colin says good morning each day to come wake you up in your crib.  He hugs you goodbye before he goes to school.  He runs in to see you after school and wants to sit right by you at dinner time.  He gives you toys and loves to drive his matchbox cars on your arms and legs.  And you two tackle each other all in good fun.  And all of this makes you smile and laugh.  You adore Colin.  And he adores you.  It's clear that you two love each other and while everyone says that you two will fight and wrestle- and I'm sure you will- I hope that the love you two are forming for each other now, only creates a bond that is thicker and stronger than anything else.
You continue to be a good eater.  Everyone comments on how there is no way you are only eight months old.  You are pretty big for your age-- the rolls are ADORABLE and so cuddly.  And your sleeping like a champ.  You sleep snuggled with your butt in the air.  These are the moments that I don't want to forget.
This has been such a fun summer, I don't want it to end.  In just a few days you will start daycare at Creative Kids Academy.  I'm certain I will cry as leaving you will be incredibly hard.  You've had the best summer with Jaxon and Rose watching you and it delights my heart to know you are in the best hands with them.  And while I know you will love playing with new friends and you will learn so many things, it will just be another step and reminder of how quickly you are growing up.  Your baby days are going fast and I'm not ready for two toddlers.  So please listen to your mama and stay little.

Spencer: Seven Months

Spencer,
I'm sure someday when you read this blog and are graduating high school or getting married, you'll roll your eyes when you read that each month I can't believe you're that much closer to your first birthday.  You're that much further away from the day I found out you would join our family or the day you entered our world.  I'm honestly shaking my head in disbelief at how quickly you are growing up.  I knew it would happen fast-- even faster than Colin growing up as you would try to keep up with him and life would just be that much busier and fast paced.  And I was right.  You so badly want to run with your brother.  You want to play with whatever he is playing with (which he does not appreciate-- sharing isn't his strength yet!).  You watch so intently at everything that is going on around you.  And I just want to bottle up these summer days with you and relive them over and over.  I'm your Mama and I can't help myself.
This month you are rolling EVERYWHERE!  You usually get yourself stuck against a wall or under a chair-- to which Colin gets our attention and wants to help pull you out.  And you have just about mastered sitting up on your own.  You are still a little wobbly and you tip over but for the most part you are an independent sitter.  And oh my word do you want to crawl in the worst way.  I'm certain you will be much happier-- not that you are fussy at all- when you can get to your brother, toys, or whatever destination you choose.  You get up on all fours and rock.  One day you'll take off.
This month you popped two bottom teeth which has also opened up more solid foods for you to try.  You LOVE cheerios and your favorite foods are cereal,  butternut squash and avocado.  You just started yogurt and eggs and so far so good.  You are on the verge of popping another tooth!  Maybe you'll be like Colin and get all your teeth early!
Your sleeping has been awesome-- thank you for 12-13 hour stretches!  And you stayed overnight at Grandpa and Grandma Helland's house for a weekend and did great!
This summer is flying by.  One more month at home with Jaxon and Rose as your nannies and then you'll start at Creative Kids Acadmey.  I'm sort of dreading it-- stay little please.  I LOVE you so much and can't stand to think of you not as my baby anymore.  Although, let's be honest you'll always be my baby.

Spencer's 6 Month Pictures

I feel terrible that I'm so behind on this post... but summer has been busy and to be honest, if I'm at home with the boys, I don't like being on my computer.  So here is the dump of beautiful pictures from Spencer's 6 month shoot.  Once again Brett Dorrian does amazing work!  Thanks Brett for styling and capturing our little family!
