Weekend Shenanigans: Holidazzle and a Snow Day!

Friday night started off a perfect weekend!  My favorite high school girlfriends- minus Syd!- went downtown for the Holidazzle parade and dinner at Zelo!  It was so fun!  We started at the Local for apps and drinks- stepped outside to watch the parade and then off to dinner.  We all noticed that as children, the parade seemed much longer but in our adult years, the parade only lasted about 25 minutes and so many of the same floats from years ago!

At Zelo we had the BEST waiter ever!  His name was Tony!  He joined us for a drink after his shift was done!  If you ever go to Zelo- request a table in Tony's section!  He was so nice, really attentive and super fun!  Needless to say we loved him!

On Saturday I got up early to coach at the U for a little bit and then I went to pick up Annie for a day of fun!  Annie and I went to watch my old high school diver Zoe dive at a college meet at St. Thomas!  It was really fun to watch her dive again but a whole lot less stressful being in the stands instead of on deck coaching :)
Then Annie and I headed to Mall of America for a little Xmas shopping!  Worst idea ever!  It was beyond busy- more like a zoo!  It was so hard to navigate around, we didn't stay long.  Saturday ended with Ryan and I getting dinner at Champps and a movie on the couch!  We were lazy and we loved it!

Sunday we woke up to a whole lot of snow!  We ran to the gym to get a quick workout in and when we got home, my sweet husband shoveled the end of the driveway really quickly so we could get in the garage!
This was the first year we have a snowblower and I know Ryan is pretty happy not to be shoveling all that snow again!  It was heavy and wet!  He went out twice to snowblow and I shoveled the sidewalk and yard- yes yard so Dupree has a spot to do his business!  He can't walk in the snow when there is more than 2 inches!
 Isn't he adorable?!
The rest of Sunday was spent on the couch either watching football or napping.  I haven't been that lazy in I can't say how long and we loved it!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Winter Time Things

To be really honest, I don't love the winter.  I would much prefer summer and all things warm :)
But as I will likely live in Minnesota my whole life, I have learned to deal with the cold and embrace the good things that come along with this season.
So again in no particular order...

#1 Mittens
I LOVE mittens!  I love how adorable they look, I love how warm they feel, and I love all the fun designs and styles!  It's dumb I know, but it certainly makes me feel better to wear mittens.

#2 Heeled Boots
Oh my goodness!  If I'm not wearing heeled boots during the winter- well then I don't know what I'm wearing on my feet!  I love my heeled boots- especially my carmel-colored ones!  I basically wear them with everything!!

#3 Sledding
I think I'm biased about sledding because it was one of my favorite dates with Ryan when we started dating! We went sledding with his roommate, Dan and Dan's girlfriend Stacey.  I couldn't have possibly had a better time.  So great!  And I will always love sledding!

#4 Hot Chocolate
Who doesn't love hot chocolate?!  I love it so much it was our favor for our wedding!  Ryan and I packed hot chocolate packets and people thought they were professionally made- that's how awesome we are!  They were delicious and we actually still have some packets.  I can't say that the marshmellows are still good in there but they are delicious little treats after a cold day outside!

#5 Moose Pajama Pants
I love these pajama pants but the husband is less than impressed by these beauties!  I have some dark red, flannel pajama pants with moose all over them.  They are the comfiest pants on the planet but I guess they aren't very sexy.  But they are so warm and wonderful- waking up wearing these pants is the best feeling while snuggled in our bed.

#6 Christmas lights outside
I absolutely love the two little trees in our front yard that have colored lights on them!  Every year Husband puts the lights up around Thanksgiving and it is the official start of the holidays!!  I love that almost every house on our street has some sort of lights outside.  And to be honest, if you don't have lights, you are sort of a dud!

#7 Scarves
If you know anything at all about me, you know I LOVE my scarves!  I have a million and one and I can't hardly go one day with a scarf.  I actually feel naked without one on.  They dress everything up, keep me warm, and give me a great accessory!  I'm obsessed   If you ever don't know what to get me for a gift- get me a scarf and you're golden!

#8 Snow days
I secretly love when it snows so much that we can't get out of our driveway.  Not because we don't go to the office- remember we can work from home any day- but because it's cozy!  I love when the plows come through the street and we have to go shovel our driveway.  I love the snow glistening in the sun!  And I love hunkering down at home as a true snow day!

#9 Crock-pot recipes
I LOVE when Ryan and I decide to cook in the crock-pot and the smells fill the whole house all day long!  It's the real best, when you cook all day and come home from being out and you open the door and the smell overwhelms your senses!  It's like tasting the food without gaining the calories!  Yummy!!

#10 Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Valentine's Day
Seriously all my favorite holidays- except 4th of July!  It's all about family and blessings- which I have so many of!  It's about celebrating my faith, the birth of Jesus and again more family!  It's about celebrating what the last year was about and excitement for what the next year holds- surprises!  And it's all about my love for my husband- which I have a lot of!  Seriously the best!!

Weekend Shenanigans: Diving Meets & Company Party

I don't even know where the weekend went?  It seriously flew by!
Friday Ryan and I had dinner at his mom's house- Papa Murphy's pizza!  Dawn and I did a little Christmas decorating while the boys just watched :)

Saturday, I worked at the U of MN pool all day- learning the computer system so that I can be the Big Ten Diving Coordinator in February.  While I was at the pool all day, Ryan was working- doing showings and running all over town.  Not much of a relaxing Saturday!

And Sunday was the fun day of the weekend!  Our companies, Leasing & Management and Creative Housing Solutions, had our holiday party!  What a blast!  We rented a trolley for the day and went out to a winery for some wine tasting and then off to a holiday lights tour!  We packed 22 people in the trolley and it couldn't possibly have been more fun!

Brother from another mother!
The whole crew!
Angie and Andy joined us too!  Angie went to college with Ryan and we are hoping to have her join the crew some day!
And this is why I LOVE my husband!
Mama kissing Santa Clause!
 Driving the sleigh- duh!
 Just relaxing...
Look at how happy Austin was that Ryan was helping him!

Absolutely no doubt we had a blast last night!  Happy Holidays from Leasing & Management and Creative Housing Solutions!
Cheers!

Top Ten Tuesday

Today is Ryan and my 2 year wedding anniversary!  I cannot believe how quickly two years has gone by!
In honor of our wedding anniversary I am going to dedicate today's top ten to my 10 favorite wedding pictures!  And I seriously can't put an order on this so it's just my top 10!

1. My Bridesmaids
I have the most wonderful friends and this moment will never happen again my life- surrounded my some of my favorite women!  I was so happy to have each of them by my side that day!

2. Delta Chi Brothers
I love this picture!  Seeing Ryan with his "brothers" is so great and to have them stand by him on that day was so important!  The bond between these guys is pretty cool- something you don't see with all dudes and their friends.

3. In our first moments together
Ryan and I chose to see each other before our wedding ceremony and I am so glad we did!  It gave us the opportunity to spend the whole day together!  And in our first look, we still have the moment that we had waited for.  Callie- our photographer- caught this look and I love that you see my blue shoes and my cathedral veil!  I love this one!

4. Kissing next to my Grandparents
It's no secret that I adore my grandparents.  And although this picture has been featured in my blog before and on facebook, I can't get enough of it!  Simply said- these two mean more to me than words can describe and their beautiful marriage is something Ryan and I strive to have too!  As of September 2012, they have been married for 66 years!!

5. Our Ceremony
I love this picture as it was captured right as my dad had just walked me up the aisle and Ryan was waiting for me!  I love the deocr of our ceremony and I love how you can see the people packed into our venue- sorry for those that stood and didn't get to sit!  It was beyond words and emotions for Ryan and I to see all those people that mean so much to us, surrounding us during our ceremony!

6. Husband and Wife
I was BEYOND happy, over the moon, thrilled to be MRS. Hannay!  And I still feel like this!  I couldn't believe we were married but I was so glad I married my best friend!

7. My Dad
This picture truly captured my relationship with my dad!  I love and adore him and he has always protected, loved, and supported me!  It was an emotional day for me and my dad but I was so so happy to have him dance with me!

8. Dawn and Ryan
I love this picture of Ryan dancing with his mom!  Ryan and his mom have a really special relationship and I really respect and treasure that!  Dawn is very musically talented so she picked their song (and sang with her choir too!) and I love how sweet this picture is!  I'm pretty sure she was singing during the dance!

9. The Father-Daughter dance turned into my Parents Dance
So when my dad had the opportunity to pick out the father-daughter dance he wanted to keep his song selection a secret.  Which was fine with me but he had to tell Ryan so Ryan could tell our DJ.  Dad picked "I loved her first" and his comment to Ryan was- "do you get it?!"  Ryan of course got the cue and well it was our dance for the evening.  However, about half way through the song, my dad said to me, while dancing "where's your new husband?"  I pointed and my dad turned me over to finish the dance with Ryan and then my Dad grabbed my Mom to finish the dance with her.  What a melt your heart moment!

10. My truly FAVORITE picture of the day!
I can't put into words what I love about this picture except that Ryan looks darn good here and it was simply the happiest day of my life!

Happy 2 year wedding anniversary Babe!  I love you!!

A Most Wonderful Thanksgiving and Weekend Shenanigans

Ah!  I feel full, refreshed, and richly blessed!  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  It started on Wednesday evening with a trip downtown.  Ryan and I enjoyed some appetizers and drinks at The Local and then joined Dawn and Ross at the Dakota Jazz Club for The Steeles in concert!  My jaw sits on the floor most of the time they are singing and playing!  They are beyond talented and what's so cool is that they are all family.  If anyone knows my family, you know how  musically challenged we are- so it's beyond amazing to me that a family would carry this much talent all together!

Then Thursday was Thanksgiving!  Ryan and I were a little lazy in the morning but we got our butts in gear and made some food and headed out the door to my parents house.  It was really bitter sweet as it was the last Thanksgiving at my parents house!  (They sold their house and will move just after the holidays.)  It was a really good day- full of family, delicious food- my parents make the best food!- and memories of holidays past at their house!  A few pictures from the day...
A Christmas card perhaps?!
VERY VERY thankful for my Grandpa, his health, and spending Thanksgiving with him!
Olivia- our flower girl!  Almost 4 years old!  What a little fashionista in her boots and sweater dress!
Jaxon and Stephanie- took a few shots to get this one as the 14 year old boy was trying to avoid it!
 Dad making the gravy!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words- and this one just melts my heart!
 Olivia playing with Gracie.
The wines from St. Emilion were enjoyed!
 Beautiful sisters!
 Dad serving up dinner!
After stuffing ourselves at my parent's house, we headed to Dawn and Ross's!  And again enjoyed a wonderful meal with the usual suspects- Dawn and Ross, Ben and Becca, Bill and Austin!  I think I enjoyed time on the porch after dinner the most- sipping on coffee and just chatting and laughing!  A lot!
Dawn's Thanksgiving dinner table...
Ben playing guitar on the porch just as it started snowing!
Dancing party of course with Austin!
 And dip!
 Facebooking that right away :)
 You two are cute!
Bill looks thrilled to be sitting with Ryan :)
 Seriously delicious apple pie!
 Familia
And someone had to play Fantasy Football...

Ryan and I were the first to leave for the night as we had to get up in the morning for BLACK FRIDAY shopping!  It has been a tradition in my family for years- I think since I was in 7th or 8th grade!  All the girls in the family load up in the morning and hit the road.  Stephanie, my very organized sister-in-law organizes the route based on what stores open when and who has the best deals/door busters.  I was pretty excited to go Black Friday shopping as I haven't gone since before Ryan and I were married- I've missed this that last two years while getting married and then being in Florida last year celebrating our first anniversary!  And this was Ryan's first year!  So Ryan and I picked up a newspaper on Thursday night so we could clip coupons for our shopping trip!

Friday morning we were up at 4am and out the door by 4:30!  Ryan took a quick drink of C4- his normal workout energy booster while the girls all got coffee at Caribou!  We were the first in line!
Funny story of the morning.. after picking up coffee, we hopped in the car and as Ryan and I opened our car doors at the same time, all of my coupons got swept away by the wind and I ended up chasing them through the parking lot at Caribou!  I caught on coupon and the other ones got stuck in the bushes so we grabbed those too :)
Ryan in Macy's at about 5:45am!  Likely not to happen too often :)
At Dick's Sporting Goods with Rose!
Laura and Rose waiting for Ryan to buy his new TV!
Let me tell you- I didn't even know who my husband was on Friday!  He went gang busters for the deals- including a new 51" tv!  He says he just can't pass up a good deal.
Then after lunch, my sister, my mom and I headed up to Hom Furniture to do a little furniture shopping for my parents' new house!  We picked out a new kitchen table, dining room table, master bedrooms set, and great room furniture!  My mom HATES shopping and my sister and I LOVE shopping so we may be now in charge of decorating their new home!
The new great room set.  My mom is getting custom fabrics done!
And part of the bedroom set...
Friday night was complete with a workout and dinner at home with our friends Mike and Danielle!  I was practically falling asleep on the couch, mid conversation.  Exhausted was an understatement.

Saturday started in good fashion with breakfast with my friend Allison.  Allison and her husband Kyle live in Arizona so we don't see them too often- unless they are home.  And of course they had Austin with them!  He couldn't possible be more adorable!  Ryan and I just snuggled him lots!

Later on Saturday evening Ryan and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary!  Our anniversary is actually on Tuesday the 27th but as it's a work day and I coach in the evening, we likely won't have very much time that day to celebrate.  So we went to dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse downtown.  It was delicious- we shared steak and chicken, spicy lobster, asparagus, and potatoes.  And to top it off, they gave us this tasty peanut butter, chocolate treat!
I feel very blessed to be married to my absolute best friend!  I will be more sappy on Tuesday but for today I will simply say I love you Ryan and I am still amazed at the incredible plan God had in bringing us together!

Sunday was a lazy day.  Some house projects- getting the Christmas lights on the trees outside and getting the decorations out for the house too!  I love Christmas and if officially started at 4am on Black Friday :)
We made a quick run to the gym in the evening and finished the night watching tv and playing words with friends!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!  I am beyond blessed to have spent the weekend with the husband, family and friends- people I really really treasure!
