What I've Been Up to Lately.

Our life has been busy lately.  I would go into detail but to be honest, I don't have time, nor do I want to spend my free time on the computer.  Here are the highlights.

- Spencer was over 9 lbs. at his two week check up

- At Colin's 15 month check up, it was determined he had a double ear infection.  Amoxicillin was prescribed.

- Daycare called last week to say they thought Colin had pink eye.  Great.  He was given a new prescription- a different kind of amoxicillin.

- Ryan had a fever of 102 and an annoying cough.

- Colin broke out it a bad rash and it was determined he is allergic to amoxicillin, as well as every other "cillin" drug.  Awesome.

- 2 Oatmeal baths, a few doses of benadryl, and lots of TLC given.

- I've had a sore throat for over 2 weeks, on and off.

- Spencer has "awoken" a bit from his newborn stage and shows of the strength of his vocal chords around 8-10pm.

This is the life!  To be honest, we feel really blessed- we really do.  It's just been busy and we are adjusting to life with two kids!

Life Lately... with two boys!

I am completely in love with being a mom!  I love waking up to my two boys, husband and dog.  I love going to sleep when the house is quiet and the day has ended and knowing that all my favorite people are under one roof- together as one family.  It's simply the best.  

Since Spencer joined the family, we have adjusted pretty well.  Colin has done GREAT!  I could not ask for a better reaction from him-- remember he is only 15 months old!  He LOVES Spencer.  He always wants to 'be sweet' to him- putting his head in Spencer's lap or leaning his head towards Spencer's.  He wants to rock him in his bassinet and he wants to hold his hand when I'm holding Spencer.  It melts my heart.

And this is the typical, daily behavior between Colin and Spencer.  I'm certain they will best buddies!

Colin did seem a little on edge the week that Spencer came home.  In general he was a bit more needy- wanted to be held while standing and needed more interaction from Ryan and I.  When Colin got home from school, he needed structured playtime which required Ryan and I to have something planned.  Colin's time between coming home and bedtime is so small-- Colin's new bedtime, dictated by him is 6:45pm-- so a little playtime, dinner, shower and jammies and then he is off to bed.  To avoid a meltdown, we made an effort to play specific things with Colin, not as much open or unorganized playtime.  It just seems to work better.  So we color, play puzzles, read books, dance (this is a new favorite) together and we avoid the meltdown.  

Now in our second week with Spencer, Colin is doing better.  He can have a little more flexibility to his evening but still prefers we all play together.  It gives me a chance to look at my little family, and I'm in awe that this is the blessing I have been given.  Two handsome, healthy boys.  One incredible husband.  And one obnoxious, yet adorable dog.  How did I get so lucky?!

39 & 40 Weeks

Just so we have them officially on the blog-- here are the 39 and 40 week posts.

I was 39 weeks and 2 days when Spencer was born.  This picture was taken on NYE right before we celebrated with some of our close friends!

 And this was on Spencer's official due date- January 7th.  I'm so thankful he is here and healthy!  We are completely in love!!

Welcome Spencer!

We would like to introduce you to our sweet little boy, Spencer Norval.

Spencer was born on Friday, January 2, 2015.  7 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 3/4 inches of perfection.  We are completely in love!  It's true that your love multiplies, and does not divide!

If my posts are few and far between for a while, you can guess where I am!

38 Weeks

38 weeks fell on Christmas Even and what I thought would be an easy picture opportunity but holidays are overwhelming and exhausting for kids and between a few little meltdowns, this is what we got!  

It's been a really fun Christmas with multiple celebrations and lots of family time.  I've been soaking up time with Colin and Ryan and embracing these last few days as a family of 3.  Life will drastically change soon when Spencer makes his appearance-- any day now kiddo!  The new year will be exciting for sure!  Daddy would sure love a 2014 baby!

His Name and His Nursery

Yep you've seen this same title post before here.  And perhaps you caught the early glance of our reveal yesterday.  But without further to do- I wanted to reveal our sweet son's name.

Spencer Norval.  Ryan and I chose the name Spencer just before we found out Colin would have a little brother.  We had a girl name picked out when we found out we were pregnant with Colin but finding a boy's name was a bit more of a challenge.  Ryan and I would email back and forth during the first half of this pregnancy with names we liked.  It wasn't until we were out on a date night that we landed on Spencer and it stuck.

The middle name of Norval is incredibly special to me as it is my grandpa's name.

Grandpa and I have been closer than close ever since I was a little girl,  I always knew if I had a son one day, I wanted him to be just like his great-grandfather.  Sweet, gentle, funny, and humble.  And so we have given Spencer the middle name of a man close to my heart.  I'm pretty sure when my grandpa holds Spencer for the first time it will be an overwhelming moment for me.

And just as the title of this post says- I won't keep you waiting to see Spencer's nursery...

37 Weeks

We are full term baby!  This little man can come any time now and will be totally fine!  That is insane!  Crazy!  And unbelievable!  Wow!  This pregnancy has flown by- probably because we are so busy with Colin- and I cannot believe we are mid-December already!  Next week is Christmas, then New Years, and then the due date.  

I hope every is enjoying this time with their family and friends.  I know we are anxious to celebrate Jesus' birth-- which seems to have a new meaning for me this year.  I'm really thankful I won't be giving birth in a stable :)  I'm thankful I won't have barn animals surrounding my newborn son.  And I'm thankful he will be swaddled in clean, warm blankets in a bassinet, not in a manger.  Sort of puts things in perspective right?!
