14 Weeks

Thankfully I'm in my 2nd trimester now and that energy should be kicking in soon.  It will all go to good use as I chase Colin around now.  I'm really thankful he is moving now - yep you heard that right! - as I want him to be steady when his little sibling comes along.  Crawl all you want buddy and when you can begin walking, I won't stop you!

I have felt a few flutters that I know are the baby moving around inside.  Ryan was actually able to see my tummy moving around a bit over the weekend.  It is just crazy!  If this baby kicks as actively as he or she moves, then I'm going to be like a trampoline!

We are in Motion

We are in motion people!  Colin is officially crawling and CLIMBING on everything!  He wants to walk so bad and will take about 7 steps or so between people but I wouldn't call him 'Steady Eddy!'  I would guess we have a few more weeks, hopefully a month or two before walking.  Remember how we are still less than 9 months old?!  We've had some major bonks and bumps and tumbles with crawling and walking but the little guy is tough and a few snuggles and hugs seem to make everything all better.

 On the move mama,

13 Weeks

I'm one week away from my second trimester beginning and I can feel the energy around the corner!  I'm certainly less tired than I was at the beginning of this pregnancy and I can say that morning sickness is much less now too.  I really only gag at the smell of washing Colin's dirty bottles-- guess Ryan has to wash those!  Otherwise I'm feeling great!  The doctor said last week that I would start showing much sooner this pregnancy than I did my last one especially since my muscles didn't even have a chance to tighten up again.  So I can say there is a bulge/bump going on.  It's definitely bigger at the end of the day after all my meals.

I'm looking forward to the 2nd trimester which I remember to be enjoyable and exciting.  And in 7 weeks we will find out if baby is a boy or girl!  What do you think?!

Have a great 4th of July!  We are off to my parents to roast a pig and then we will celebrate the 1st birthday of our friends' little guy Alex and the engagement of my dear friend Kevin and his fiance Dan!  Oh and then to stain the deck- yay!  Have a safe and fun holiday!

Choosing what foods to give my baby

About 2 weeks ago Colin decided he was done eating purees.  He will surprise me every once in a while and still take a few bites but basically he is over it.  Cereal is still on the 'okay' list but I'm certain my time is running out with this one too.  So I'm having to be brave and let my baby try solid foods.  It's scary.

I worry he will choke or that he will take too big a bite and gag and then everything will come back up.  I worry about allergic reactions but mostly I worry that what I am putting in him is healthy and good for him.  So far he likes his veggies- peas, carrots, green beans, corn, and lima beans.  And fruits are hit or miss.  He likes pineapple, LOVE blueberries, oranges, and bananas.  Strawberries are a sometimes go and apples are interesting to gnaw on.  He likes yogurt but that is another puree like food and he has lost interest a bit.  And he LOVES cheese.  So there you have it- Colin's main foods he eats.

What are other mamas suggestions for foods to branch out too and try at 8 months old?  I can't feed him banana and cheese every night!  And I don't want to feed him processed crap either.  So pass along your advice and give me some tips!
Today I'm linked up with Mama and Mou
Thank you!

Weeks 7-12

I definitely didn't think I would be doing bump updates so soon again but here we are people!  I always knew I wanted to do something fun for baby #2 like I did for Colin but it had to be different- no chalkboard.  And to be honest, I came to dread the chalkboard.  So that being said and now that I have a busy 8 month old, I will be doing updates via photoshop (insert big smile!).

Right now Colin is hiding my bump.  You know the one where people wonder-- has she gained weight?  is she drinking a lot of beer?  is she pregnant?  It's a questionable look right now.  So until the bump doesn't give me the 'fat' look, you will just have to enjoy Colin's adorable face-- I know rough right?!
Soon the bump will pop- the doctor assured me on Monday (oh thank you!) and then Colin will be an ornament on my hip each week for bump updates!  And in case it isn't clear, each week's picture has the fruit that correlates with baby's size.  This week baby is the size of a plum.
And just because I think it is fun to go back and remember what 12 weeks looked like with Colin's bump updates...
See you next Thursday for week 13!

Getting the biggest surprise of our life

Thank you for all the love and support we received from our announcement yesterday!  It feels good to let the cat out of the bag and share the news!

To say we were shocked is an understatement!  But I think it all makes sense... I was a surprise.  Ryan was a surprise.  And it only makes sense that we have a little surprise of our own.

If you don't want too many details, then don't keep reading but don't say I didn't warn you.
I stopped pumping when Colin turned 6 months old.  Less than 2 weeks later, I got a period.  I was back to normal and felt like myself for the first time in over a year!  I felt great!  I anticipated that my body was back to normal and when I missed my period by 5 days we thought it might be smart to take a test.  It came back negative and we figured that was normal.  Getting back to a normal cycle can take a while after having a baby so we went about life after the negative test.

We went on as normal for three more weeks!  I enjoyed some delicious glasses of wine, yummy turkey sandwiches, and slept on my back in total comfort.  THEN... on Saturday May 17th, I popped a good bottle of wine for dinner.  I took a sip and told Ryan how delicious it was.  He prepped the grill for a steak dinner.  I took Colin upstairs to change his diaper and out of no where I decided that I should probably take another pregnancy test.  I really hadn't thought about this at all.  We hadn't even talked about it.  But I say it was Mother's intuition and I took a test.  It INSTANTLY read PREGNANT and had a nice +3 on it too.  +3 indicates you are +3 weeks along so really I was 7+ weeks along.  OH MY WORD.  I could hardly process this.

I went downstairs and told Ryan I could not drink the wine.  He asked why as I had just told him how delicious it is was.  I said "I'm pregnant."  Ryan immediately thought I was lying and told me that was a bad joke.  I ran to show him the test and he was in disbelief.  He had me take another test which again instantly read pregnant.  We ate our dinner basically with our jaws on the ground- totally shocked.

I cannot believe we will have two little ones 15 months apart but it will be amazing!  God planned it this way and His plans are perfect!  We will be incredibly busy.  Ryan and I may never sleep again but life will be full and wonderful.

I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with those that want to read my blog.  Stay tuned for weekly bumpdates and our crazy lives as we get ready to become a family of 4 + Dupree!
