36 Weeks

What you don't start construction at your house 4 we

eks prior to your son's due date?!  We thought it was normal!  Around the same time as my due date, we should have a completed 4 season porch and deck!  Will I come home from the hospital with baby and construction workers... I just may!  I'm not running the show anymore!

AND... today's chalkboard is compliments of Ryan!  How adorable is that?!

Pumpkin this week...

~ Baby's immune system is mature enough to protect him from life outside the womb!
~ Baby is developing sleep patterns... but I question this as he is moving all the time!
~He keeps gaining weight and getting ready for delivery

He is a little honeydew.

Total Weight Gain/Loss?

I actually lost 1.5 pounds this week but after last night's dinner, I probably gained it all back :)

Maternity Clothes?

Same old same old.  Nothing new.  But the dress I wore at the 'Tip A Bottle' shower was new as in I hadn't worn it yet.

Stretch Marks?

With 4 weeks to go, I'm proud to say I'm stretch mark free!

Best Moments?

Our 'Tip A Bottle' Shower was pretty awesome!

Movement?
Still a ton and I love it.  I'm convinced that since he moves so much, he must still have room and therefore it could be a while until we meet him.

Nausea/Vomitting?

Nope and I'm breathing pretty well too.

Labor Signs?

Nope not yet...

This has been a better week for sleep.  Thankful for the nights with less than 2 potty breaks.

Wisdom?

So as Ryan and I are doing projects around the house and getting ready for baby- we have had to stop and remind ourselves that it is okay if not everything gets done.  Baby boy won't care when he comes in the back hallway closet is arrange or if his laundry is all done.  It will all be okay.

What am I most excited about?

In one week we will be full term and it will be totally okay for our son to join us... but I'd be happy if he waited a few more weeks.  But being full term will be comforting!

And our 4 season porch and deck project truly began this week!  YAY!!

Our 'Tip A Bottle' Shower recap

This fun invite came in the mail a few weeks ago and we were very excited to celebrate our little man one more time with some friends who are more like family!  Dawn and Ross, Ryan's mom and step-dad hosted what was an over-the-top non-traditional baby shower and it was awesome!

We started the night with a catered dinner- salad, fruit, bread, potatoes, and mushroom chicken.  It was all so yummy!  After dinner a few games were played and the shouting began!  First up was tippy bottle- another version of flip cup!  Setting the scene: two teams sucking down baby bottles of beer and lots of cheering and yelling!  It was hilarious to watch adult men, suck a baby bottle with beer as fast as they could!

And then we played 'Name that Tune!'  Another fun game where it was boys vs. girls and each song played had the word 'baby' in the title.  The first to hit the buzzer had to say the title of the song and the artist.  There was LOTS of shouting and taunting going on for this game.  I'm sure the neighbors could hear us next door!

After the crazy games, Ryan and I opened so many gifts!  Oh my word- thank you, thank you, thank you for spoiling our son!  He is one lucky boy!

The 'Who Pooped' book!  And someone can be Batman for Halloween this year!

Dupree even got a little sweater!  Go Wild!  And the most adorable bomber jacket ever!  Looks like our son is ready for a motorcycle ride with Papa Rosco!

It was a stellar evening and we felt beyond blessed to be surrounded by friends and family who celebrated the upcoming birth of our little boy!  Colin is a lucky little fellow to get to be part of this group!  A HUGE thanks to Dawn and Ross & Ben and Becca who did so much work and put together a very fun 'Tip A Bottle' Shower!

Baby Talk: Hospital Bag Packing

Today marks 100 posts in 2013!  Yipee!  I can't believe it but on the other hand it has been a busy year with lots to talk about!

So what should I talk about today on the 100th post during Baby Talk... my hospital bag!  And I probably just lost about half of you who were going to read this post!  HA!  Oh well- for those of you still reading... thanks!  I have read lots of blog post and Pinterest pins about what I should and should not pack and here is my list of what I'm packing for me and then what I'm packing for baby.

For MAMA:

1. Comfy PJs - bought a cute set from Victoria's Secret to lounge in after baby is here and when all you nice people come to visit us in the hospital!

2. Going home Outfit- my black waffle yoga like pants from my mother-in-law and a maternity workout shirt.  I have to be somewhat cute when we come home as I'm sure we'll take a picture and I don't want to look like a total frump yet!

3. Slippers- my LL Bean slippers that I LOVE and are sort of disgusting but again I LOVE!

4. Flip Flops- don't want to slip and I will probably wear these two and from the hospital

5. Boyshorts- I know I will get a pair or two of those "adorable" hospital underwear to wear after baby is born but you better believe, I'd rather be in my VS boyshorts and I'm going to get in those as quickly as I can.

6. Nursing bra & nursing pads- yep for obvious reasons this is required

7. Swim suit - I have a huge tub in my room so if I get the urge to labor in the tub (HECK no I'm not giving birth in the tub) I would prefer to be a little modest about the whole thing or at least have the option to be modest

8. My toiletries- shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush, tooth paste, deodorant, hair brush, head bands, makeup, contact solution and case, glasses, body wash

9. Pads- yep I'm going to need them, lovely.

10. Delivery Gown - I know it may be impractical and we can certainly see what this baby is doing but if this labor is going to last any substantial amount of time I did get my own gown- I know it will be disposed of afterwards but I HATE hospital gowns and feel so uncomfortable in them so I'd like to have this on hand for my own peace of mind.

11. Robe- a lightweight robe to wear after birth

For BABY:

1. Going home outfit (in both newborn and 0-3 month sizes)

2. PJs

3. Hat

4. Two receiving blankets

Ryan is packing his own bag and of course we will bring our IDs and health insurance card, the car seat, phone chargers, camera, FRIENDS dvds, music, card games, my pillows and snacks.

35 Weeks

Pumpkin this week...

~ Baby's kidneys are completely developed and his liver is functional!
~ His brain power continues to grow!
~Baby is about as long as he is going to get in my belly, but he is gaining weight still!
~His fat percentage is up to 15%.

Size of the Baby?
The size of a coconut!  I have loved coconut water a lot during this pregnancy!
Can you believe baby is likely 5 pounds by now?!  Well I can!

Total Weight Gain/Loss?

+1 pound... I can deal with that after a trip to the State Fair and Labor Day weekend!

Maternity Clothes?

Another drama free week but this weekend should be interesting... a wedding and two showers!

Stretch Marks?

Thankfully none!

Best Moments?

The start of weekly doctor appointments!  We saw our doctor on Tuesday and she did the first check to see if anything was progressing.  Warning... TMI about to be read!  Okay you've been warned!  I'm not dilated at all but my cervix is softening.  Which seems like forward progress to me!  Not too much that baby is anywhere near coming but there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Movement?
Oh yes!  Pretty much all day he moves and grooves!

Nausea/Vomitting?

None and the breathing seems to have gotten better too!

Labor Signs?

None.

Gender?

BOY!

Belly Button In or Out?
I think I would call it an outtie now.  You can see it thru tank tops and it's definitely making itself known.

Wedding Rings On or Off?

On!

Sleep?

What's that?!  I think I'm just prepping for sleepless nights to come!

Wisdom?

I don't feel like I have much wisdom this week other than soak up the time you have with your spouse before baby comes.  Ryan and I have been enjoying just being together and making sure we take advantage of opportunities to just drop everything and go hang out with friends.  This time is limited now and soon, the little guy will soak up our free time (what free time?!) so we are making every effort to be together and be with others!

What am I most excited about?

Our third and final shower this weekend!  My in-laws are throwing us a shower with some of our favorite family friends!  I can't wait to see everyone and celebrate this little man's 'just around the corner' arrival!

Labor Day Weekend Recap

A day late and a dollar short- that's the saying right?!

I was too tired to put together a blog post yesterday to recap the fun of the weekend, so excuse my tardiness.  But he is a rundown of the weekend...

Friday was girls night with the Delta Chi wives!  We enjoyed an awesome dinner at Spill the Wine!  It was fun to catch up with just the girls!  I left for my comfy bed after dinner while some of the other ladies did a little bar hopping.  I will blame my lack of enthusiasm for bar hopping on being 35 weeks preggo!

Saturday Ryan and I went to breakfast with my grandparents at Scotty B's.  I'm still so grateful that my grandparents live so close and we get to see them pretty regularly!  Then Saturday afternoon we attended the wedding of my best friend from middle school.  Charlotte and I went to the International School of MN and we were joined at the hip for 3 years!  When I left for Orono, we lost touch but after college, we reconnected once we were both back in the area.  It was a beautiful wedding with an incredible reception at the Calhoun Beach Club!  It was so fun to see Charlotte- she couldn't have been more beautiful!  And I got to reconnect with another old friend, Carina.  Carina and I were really good friends from Kindergarten until I left ISM as well.  So much has happened in all of our lives since we were 13 so it was really fun to hear about life and what's been happening since the 8th grade!

On Sunday Ryan had a work appointment so I did a little work at the office.  I'm trying to get things wrapped up for when I'm on maternity leave and it's always nice to have the office all to myself!  But after a little organizing and sorting, we headed out to the lake with our friends!  It wasn't very sunny but it was nice to enjoy time out with friends and relax for a while!

We finished Sunday with a trip to Home Depot for some shelving for the garage.  And I did another load of baby laundry which I LOVE!!  So stinking cute!!

And then on Monday we met my friends Kathryn and Mike just before they flew back to California.  They were in town for Labor Day weekend and we grabbed a quick bite to eat with them at Mall of America.  So fun to see them and it was crazy to think when we see them next, we'll have our baby!  To finish the weekend, our family got together at my sister's house to hang out and then have a little pizza dinner.  

Lastly- a package from New Zealand showed up in our mailbox this weekend!

 My best friend Kristin is living in New Zealand.  She left in April and won't be back until 2015.  I was beyond surprised to find these adorable onesies in the mail.  To say that I cried like a baby would be an understatement.  I miss her lots!  What a fun surprise for Labor Day weekend!

I LOVE 3 day weekends and think they should be mandatory!
